Q.the dimensions of a rectangular box are in the ratio 2:3:4 and its surface area is 1300 cm sq. its shortest edge is how much ? please give detail description with the answer..

Dear student,
 
Let the length, breadth and height of the rectangular box be 2x, 3x and 4x respectively.
Surface area of the box = 2(lb +bh + hl)
1300 = 2(6x2 + 12x2 + 8x2)
1300 = 2(26x2)
x2 = 1300/52 = 25
So, x = 5
 
Thus, the shortest edge of the box is 2x = 2.5 = 10 cm
