Q . What is likely to happen and it would effect the value of resistance passing the current for a longer time ?

Passing the current for longer time heats the resistance and its temperature increases.This is due to the power dissipation which is equal to i2R, where i is current and R is resistance. Resistance value of resistor increases with increase in temperature
