From the given graph, transverse displacement y is given by   
 
y = (2/3)[ x - v t ]                    |x - vt| < 1.5                 ............................(1)
 
y = 2 - (2/3)[ x - v t ]          1.5 < |x - vt| < 3.0            -----------------------(2)
 
y = 0                                     | x - v t | >3.0                .............................(3)
 
speed of the pulse  v = 150 m/s
 
Graph for displacement, i.e. pulse as a function of x,  when t = 0.04 s is given below
 
velocity of the particle is obtained by differentiating eqn.(1) , 
 
dy/dt  = -(2/3)v  = -(2/3)150  = -100 m/s
