Remember that the volume of the sphere which is dropped into the water is the same as the rise in volume in the vessel.

Let r be the radius of the vessel.Remember that r is nor what you need finally , it's the daimeter =2r which is going to be our final answer.So as a  precaution underline the word diameter in the question both times to remind you of the same.

So, the rise in volume=

Solving, we get,

r=9 cm

 So, diameter=18 cm.
