Youngs modulus Y = Stress / Strain =  (Force/Area) / ( ΔL/L)  .......................(1)
 
where L is original length of metal ring (circumference of ring) and ΔL is change in length due to linear expansion.
 
ΔL = L×α×ΔT .......................(2)
 
from eqn.(1) and (2),  Force = Y×(ΔL/L ) Area = ( Y × α ×ΔT  ×S )
