vGS is the potential difference between point G and S.
 
Potential at G = 5×[ R2 / (R1 + R2 ) ] = 1.67 V
 Potential at S = iD × RS
 
Henc vGS = ( 1.67 - iD×RS)
 
Hence iD = K ( vGS - vT )2 = K [ (1.67 - iD×RS) - vT)2 .....................(1)
 
By substituting the values in eqn.(1), we end up with qudratic eqn for iD , hence that can be solved to get iD
 
small signal gm can be calculated from the relation, gm = 2K ( vGS - vT )
