ICSE Class 10 Answered
While walking through the jungle, Sher Singh had some misadventures; he escaped death by avoiding stepping on a cobra. He was wary of the bears whose paw marks were visible on the dust tracks. He also encountered a herd of elephants jostling through the forest near the river bed. But, the herd left the brothers alone and went on its way. He also saw a herd of cows and their calvesAs he trod into the shallow river and reached the shore, he saw newly-made footprints of a tiger. However, he proceeded courageously and reached the second river by midnight.
Weaving some grass into a rope, Sher Singh tied it round his brother and himself to keep them together and entered the river and moved forward with great difficulty. Eventually, he was able to cross the river. Sher Singh’s eyes also spotted some dogs and pigs on the road to Kalaghat. He got a lift in a bullock cart and then a truck. He reached the Kalaghat hospital and admitted his ailing brother.
