The smallest number of pencils and erasers, so that there is exactly 1 eraser per pencil is the LCM of the two numbers 10 and 12.
10 = 2 x 5
12 = 22 x 3
LCM(10, 12) = 22 x 3 x 5 = 60
Hence, there must be 60 pencils and 60 erasers.
So, Aayesha should buy 6 packages of pencils and 5 packages of erasers.
