Functions of Leaves:

Manufacture of food: The pigment chlorophyll present in leaves gives green colour to them. This green pigment helps plants to absorb energy from sunlight and to use it to manufacture food from carbon dioxide and water. This process is termed photosynthesis.
Exchange of gases: During the day, plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. During the night, plants take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide. This exchange of gases occurs through small openings called stomata which are present on the lower surface of the leaves.
Transpiration: It is the process by which plants lose water through stomata. It helps in cooling the plant. Because water is lost, more water is pulled upwards from the roots to replace the lost water. This pulled water carries along important nutrients and minerals from the roots.

Functions of Flowers:

The most important function of flowers is reproduction. They help in the union of male and female gametes.
After fertilization, the ovary of the flower develops into a fruit containing a seed.
Flowers provide nectar to certain birds and insects, which in turn help in the transfer of pollen from one flower to the other.
