This line is taken from the one act play 'Dearly Departed'. These words are uttered by Ben husband of Elizabeth who interjects when the sisters talk about their father's death. Elizabeth and Ben remarks that it was irresponsible on Amelia's part to not take Abel their father to another doctor. They believe this would have saved his life. Henry, Amelia's husband retorts that drowning was not the cause of Abel's death, in which case he could have been revived and brought to life. At this point Ben quipped sarcastically that hewas sure that his father-in-law would never go near water implying that he was a thorough drunkard who would not even add water even to his drinks.
