In a diode vaccum tube, the plate voltage is 160 V , a grid is introduced between the plate and the cathode and a voltage of -2 V is applied to it the plate current will become (if gm = 5* 10^-3ohms^-1)

Transconductance gm is defined as,  Ib = gm × Ec ...................(1)
 
where Ib is plate current and Ec is the grid voltage
 
Hence plate current = 5×10-3×2 = 10 mA
