Iltutmish can be called the true founder of Turkish rule in India because he consolidated the Turkish rule in India. He annexed many Rajput kingdoms like Ranthambore, Gwalior, Malwa and Ujjain, and brought them into the fold of the Delhi sultanate. He saved the empire from possible Mongol attacks. He reorganised the finance and revenue departments of the empire. He thus transformed the loosely knit Ghorid territories into a strong, well-defined compact state.
