CBSE Class 12-science Answered
if a test charge is placed on a spherical equipotential surface does it keep on revolving? without work done?

Expert Answer
Due to its position on equipotential surface the charge has attained potential energy.
In order to move it on the equipotential surface, additional energy has to be supplied to get kinetic energy for the charge.
If there are no other forces acting on the charge other than electric force, no work will be done.
but moving charge radiates electromagnetic radiation and loosing its potential energy hence it will be moved out of equipotential surface
