Expert Answer:

Following a honey bee sting the first step in treatment is removal of the barbed stinger. Bee venom is acidic and the interventions are often recommended to neutralize the venom and reduce the pain.Ice-packs (not aspirin) are also supposedly  helpful in reducing the pain of a bee-sting.
