How to distinguish between PbCO3 and ZnCO3 in solution?

Asked by Amyanshu | 6th Jun, 2015, 01:55: PM

Expert Answer:

Zn+2 in ZnCO3 gives effervescence with HCl whereas Pb+2 in PbCO3 does not give effervescence.

Pb+2 in PbCO3 reacts with sulphate ion to form PbSO4 whereas Zn+2 in ZnCO3 does not react with sulphate ion.
