Plants get energy from light through a process called photosynthesis. This is how light affects the growth of a plant. Without light, a plant would not be able to produce the energy it needs to grow. All plants require light and CO2 for photosynthesis. Adequate spacing between plants will ensure that each plant receives sufficient light
Some plant species flower only when exposed to short periods of light, whereas others flower only after exposure to prolonged periods of light. This phenomenon is called photoperiodism.
