Forest fire is difficult to control. Why?

Expert Answer
Hi Aditi,
A forest fire starts due to burning up of dried wood, leaves and other combustible forest materials. A forest fire spreads rapidly due to abundance of wood, which serves as a good fuel for the fire. Also controlling forest fires becomes difficult as the area is large and application of water and other fire preventive materials (like fire extinguishers) becomes difficult.Hence it is difficult to control forest fires.
