Find velocity of sattelite?
Asked by ashutosharnold1998 | 23 Dec, 2019, 21:14: PM
Expert Answer
for the satellite, centripetal force is provided by gravitational force of attraction
Hence, we have, ( m v2 )/R = (G M m )/ R2 ............(1)
where m is mass of satellite, v is orbital speed of satellite when satellite is at a distance R from planet of mass M
and G is gravitational constant
By simplifying eqn.(1), we get, v = ( G M / R )1/2
Since it is given that, satellite is at a distance 2a/3 from planet,
we get orbital speed v = [ 3 G M /(2R ) ]1/2
