Find height of jet of water?

Expert Answer
Figure shows , L-shape tube projects water upward from the stream of speed uo = 2.45 m/s .
Hence vertical distance h travelled by water is given by, uo2 = 2 g h
hence , we get, h = uo2 / (2 g ) = (2.45 × 2.45 ) / ( 2 × 9.8 ) = 0.306 m = 30.6 cm
Since tube length above surface of water = 10.6 cm, jet height = 30.6 - 10.6 = 20 cm
