Expert Answer
The causes of global warming are:
- Greenhouse Effect: One of the major causes of global warming is the excess accumulation of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide traps the Sun’s heat and does not allow a part of it to go back into space. This has led to an increase in the temperature of the Earth, resulting in global warming.
- Deforestation: cutting of trees on a large scale has also increased the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and maintain the fertility of the soil. Therefore, the destruction of forest covers on a large scale results in global warming.
- Indiscriminate Burning of the Fossil Fuels: The burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere resulting in global warming.
