  • Weeding or weed control is the process of removing unwanted plants from crop fields.
  • Here, physical, chemical and biological methods are used to stop weeds from reaching a mature stage of growth when they could be harmful to domesticated plants and livestock.
  • Many weed control strategies have been developed in order to contain the growth and spread of weeds.
  • The most basic is ploughing which cuts the roots of annual weeds.
  • Other include, cultural, chemical and biological control. 
  • Weeding is essential weeds tend to compete with the crops for food, space, water and light and greatly reduce the crop yield.
