- Weeding or weed control is the process of removing unwanted plants from crop fields.
- Here, physical, chemical and biological methods are used to stop weeds from reaching a mature stage of growth when they could be harmful to domesticated plants and livestock.
- Many weed control strategies have been developed in order to contain the growth and spread of weeds.
- The most basic is ploughing which cuts the roots of annual weeds.
- Other include, cultural, chemical and biological control.
- Weeding is essential weeds tend to compete with the crops for food, space, water and light and greatly reduce the crop yield.
