In general, a substance that stops or reduces the effect of a toxin is called an anti-toxin. An antibody produced in response to and capable of neutralizing a specific biologic toxin
 
Toxoids are inactive toxins secreted by bacteria. They are made harmless by adding dilute formalin. Such toxoids are used as vaccines.
