Expert Answer:

On Solving the equation we get , {cos4x+1}/{cotx - tanx} = (2cos22x)(sinx.cosx)/(cos2x - sin2x) = cos2x.sin2x = sin4x/2

On Integrating we get , -cos4x/8 + C

a = -1/8
