Cite an example where applied force can make a stationary object move. Why it happens sometimes that after applying force, an object does not move?

A toy car can be made to move by giving it a little push.
Sometimes, an object does not move after applying force to it because the force applied may not be sufficient to move an object as the force required to move it is directly proportional to the mass of the object.
