Carbon, Silicon and germanium atoms have 4 valence electrons each. Their valence and conduction bands are separated by energy band gaps represented by (EG)c,(EG)si and (EG)Ge, repectively. what is the relationship between above these things?

For carbon, Energy gap between conduction band and valance band is ˜ 5 eV ,
respective value for Silicon is 1.1 eV and for germenium it is 0.66 ev
Hence (EG)C > (EG)Si > (EG)Ge
