Let the original sum be Rs. P
Given: Time = x years and Rate of interest = x%
As the sum become 1 whole 16/25 of itself, this means 16/25 of P is the Interest received
We know that,

straight S. straight I equals fraction numerator straight P cross times straight T cross times straight R over denominator 100 end fraction rightwards double arrow space 16 over 25 space of space straight P space equals space fraction numerator straight P cross times straight x cross times straight x over denominator 100 end fraction rightwards double arrow space 16 over 25 cross times straight P equals fraction numerator straight P cross times straight x squared over denominator 100 end fraction rightwards double arrow space 16 over 25 equals straight x squared over 100 rightwards double arrow space straight x squared equals 16 over 25 cross times 100 rightwards double arrow space straight x squared equals 16 cross times 4 rightwards double arrow space straight x equals 4 cross times 2 rightwards double arrow straight x equals 8
