JEE Class main Answered

A string of length 1 m has been tied straight between two poles. An ant goes from one pole to the other. Upon just reaching the other pole, it quickly takes a turn and returns to the first pole. Here also it reverses its direction and goes to the other pole. This process repeats. Every time, it takes 1s to move once across the string. Assume no time is wasted in taking the turn at the pole. Its average velocity after it completes 25th travel across the string is:

Average velocity is defined as net displacement divided by time .

Since the ant has completed 25th cycle , its net displacement is zero because
it would have come to same starting point after completing 25th cycle.

Hence Average velocity is zero.
