Distance covered by the particle in nth second is given by
S subscript n equals u plus a over 2 open parentheses 2 n minus 1 close parentheses
So distance covered in 1st second
s subscript n equals 0 plus a over 2 open parentheses 2 cross times 1 minus 1 close parentheses equals a over 2
d i s tan c e space c o v e r e d space i n space 2 n d space s e c o n d
s subscript n equals 0 plus a over 2 open parentheses 2 cross times 2 minus 1 close parentheses equals fraction numerator 3 a over denominator 2 end fraction
d i s tan c e space c o v e r e d space i n space 3 r d space s e c o n d
s subscript n equals 0 plus a over 2 open parentheses 2 cross times 3 minus 1 close parentheses equals fraction numerator 5 a over denominator 2 end fraction
s subscript 1 colon s subscript 2 colon s subscript 3 equals 1 colon 3 colon 5
