A man sold two cycles at RS 1240 each . If he gained 25% on one and lost 25% on the other, find the total gain or loss percent.

Expert Answer
if gain is 25% for selling price Rs.1240, then cost price = 1240×(100/125) = Rs.992
if loss is 25% for selling price Rs.1240, then cost price = 1240×(100/75) = Rs.1653
total cost price = 1653+992 = Rs. 2645
total selling price = 1240+1240 = Rs. 2480
percentage of loss = (165/2480)×100 = 6.65%
