A man bought a certain number of chairs for ₹10,000.He kept one for his own use and sold the rest at the rate ₹50 more than he gave for one chair.Besides getting his own chair for nothing,he made a profit of₹450 .How many chairs did he buys?

Let the number of chairs be y.
Cost of each chair = 10000/y
Numbers of chairs sold = y - 1
SP per chair = (10000/y) + 50
SP of 50 chairs = (y - 1) [(10000/y) + 50]
SP - CP = Profit
(y - 1) [(10000/y) + 50] - 10000 = 450
Solving this we get y = 20
Number of chairs bought y a man is 20.
