Let the number be x.
The given number is increased by 20%. Hence, resulting number is x + 20% of x = 120x/100
The resulting number is again increased by 15%. Hence, new number is 120x/100 + 15% of 120x/100 = 138x/100
Increased in the number = 138x/100 - x = 38x/100
Percentage increased = (38x/100)/x × 100 = 38%
