A ball is thrown vertically upwards with the speed of 9.6m/s from the top of a tower returns to the earth in 6 secs. Find height of the tower.

Expert Answer
Distance travelled S = u t -(1/2) g t2 ..................(1)
where u is initial speed, t is time duration of travel and g is acceleration due to gravity.
S = 9.6×6 -(1/2)×9.8×36 = -118.8 m
Hence height of building is nearly equal to 119 m
