Expert Answer:

0 is an even number.
It is divisible by 2 (Of course it is divisible by every positive integer.
It is an integer multiple of 2 i.e. 0=0x2.
Zero also fits into the patterns formed by other even numbers.
The parity rules of arithmetic, such as even ? even = even, require 0 to be even
Consider the following rules for even and odd numbers:
even ± even = even (or zero)
odd ± odd = even (or zero)

The above rules would therefore be incorrect if zero were not even.
Thus, 0 is an even number.
