Ramakanth Achrekar & Sachin Tendulkar

Ramakanth Achrekar is well known for coaching young cricketers at Shivaji Park in Dadar, Mumbai. But his most famous and successful pupil is Sachin Tendulkar. In 1990, he was honoured with the Dronacharya Award for his services to cricket coaching.

Dronacharya & Arjuna

In the Mahabharata, Dronacharya was the royal guru to Gauravas and Pandavas. Among them, Arjuna was the most dedicated, hard-working and most naturally talented pupil of Dronacharya. He was greatly impressed by Arjuna's concentration, determination and drive.

Plato & Aristotle

Aristotle was Plato's prized student, even though Aristotle disagreed with him on many points. When Aristotle was a young man, he went to study at Plato's Academy. Aristotle did very well at the Academy. He created a classification system of monarchies, oligarchies, tyrannies, democracies and republics which we still use today.

Aristotle & Alexander the Great

Aristotle was invited by Philip II of Macedon to become the tutor to his son Alexander the Great in 343 BC. Aristotle was appointed as the head of the royal academy of Macedon. During that time he gave lessons to Alexander.

Ramakrishna Paramahansa & Swami Vivekananda

Even though Swami Vivekananda did not accept Ramakrishna as his guru initially, he was attracted by his personality and visited him frequently. Under Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda was transformed from a restless, puzzled, impatient youth to a mature man who was ready to renounce everything for the sake of God-realization. In time, Swami Vivekananda accepted Ramakrishna as guru whole-heartedly and with complete surrender as disciple.

Annie Sullivan & Helen Keller

Annie Sullivan, was an American teacher best known as the instructor of Helen Keller. When Annie Sullivan arrived at Keller's house, she immediately began to teach Helen to communicate. However, the big breakthrough in communication came only after a month when Annie figured an innovative method to teach her student. Annie Sullivan, continued to remain Helen's governess and eventual companion.
