why is iodoform used as an antiseptic?

Iodoform effectively destroys virus and fungus. Ninety percent of bacteria are killed on the skin within ninety seconds. Iodoform has disinfectant properties. 88% of iodoform is evaporated from the skin requiring coating.Skin is the most acceptable transport for iodine. After evaporation from the skin, 12% is available to the body immediately with the remaining percentage being gradually absorbed.
