How many minutes will it take to completely fill a water tank with a capacity of 3750 cubic meters if the water is being pumped into the tank at the rate of 800 cubic meters per minute and is being drained out of the tank at the rate of 300 cubic meters per minute? Please explain how.

In every minute 800 cubic meters of water is being pumped into and 300 cubic meters of water is drained out.

In 1 minute, the net amount of water pumped into the tank = 800 – 300 = 500 cubic meters.

Time taken to fill the tank of volume 3750 cubic meters = 3750/500 mins = 7.5 mins = 7 mins + 0.5 min = 7 mins 30 seconds
