Does excess of water create a lot of pressure on the xylem tissues? What is the consequence for this case?

Whenever water becomes excess, the transpiration rate increases in plants, due to which water is lost as water vapour from the stomatal pores. So excess water is removed from the plant and no excess pressure is created on the xylem tissues.
