a train of mass M moving along a straight line.suddenly the last bogie got detached.after detachment the train moved further L distance and stopped.the mass of detached bogie is m.if the resistance force is directly proportional to the mass.what will be the distance beetween the last bogie & the rest of the train after both being stopped?

Let velocity of remaining train before detachment be V
and after detachment of bogie it wil be v and of bogie it will be V
hence using momentum conservation we can say that:
Now let proportionality constant of resistance force be k.
Hence we see that:
Thus both the parts will feel equal retardation. Hence will stop together one after other.
Hence there will be no distance between them.
