TRIPURA Class 11-science Chemistry Organic Chemistry
Classification and Nomenclature
Organic compounds can be broadly classified as acyclic or open chain and cyclic or closed chain compounds.
Acyclic compounds are straight or branched chain compounds.
Cyclic compounds contain carbon and sometimes other atoms in the form of a ring.
The IUPAC nomenclature of organic chemistry is a systematic method of naming organic chemical compounds as recommended by IUPAC.Isomerism
The phenomenon in which molecules have same molecular formula but with different structural arrangements of the atoms is called as structural isomerism.
The phenomenon in which compounds have the same constitution and sequence of covalent bonds but differ in relative positions of their atoms or groups in space is called stereoisomerismReaction Mechanism
