**Chapter 1 Integers **

This chapter talks about addition and subtraction of integers. It then dives deeper and teaches multiplication and division of integers along with its properties.

**Chapter 2 Fractions and Decimals**

This chapter teaches multiplication of a fraction by a fraction, division of a whole number by a fraction, division of a fraction by a whole number, multiplication of a decimal by 10, 100, 1000 etc. Other topics are multiplication of a decimal by a whole number, multiplication of a decimal by a decimal, division of decimals by 10, 100, 1000 etc. and dividing a decimal by a whole number.

**Chapter 3 Data Handling**

This chapter teaches representation of data, collection of data, organisation of data, representative values, arithmetic mean, mode of large data, median, use of bar graphs with choosing scale, chance and probability.

**Chapter 4 Simple Equations**

This chapter teaches how to solve equations. From moving a number from one side to another, to solving an equation, to the final solution of an equation. Everything you need to know about simple equations is taught in this chapter.

**Chapter 5 Lines and Angles**

This chapter discusses different types of angles at length. In this chapter, elated angles, complementary angles, supplementary angles, adjacent angles, linear pair, vertically opposite angles, pairs of lines, intersecting lines, transversals, angle made by a transversal, transversal of parallel lines and checking of parallel lines are discussed.

**Chapter 6 The Triangle and its Properties**

This chapter focuses on the shape of a triangle. It explains how a triangle is a simple closed curve made of three line segments. It has three vertices, three sides and three angles. It covers the concepts of the median of a triangle, altitude of a triangle, exterior angle of a triangle and its property, angle sum property of a triangle, two special triangles—equilateral and isosceles, sum of the lengths of two sides of a triangle, right-angled triangle and Pythagoras’ property.

**Chapter 7 Congruence of Triangles**

Here we talk about the congruence of triangles and how two figures of the same shape and size are congruent. Other topics covered in this chapter are congruence of plane figures, congruence among line segments, congruence of angles, congruence of triangles, criteria for congruence of triangles and congruence of right-angled triangles.

**Chapter 8 Comparing Quantities**

As the name suggests, this chapter deals in comparing quantities. It explains equivalent ratios, percentages, another way of comparing quantities, meaning of percentages, converting fractional numbers to percentages, converting decimals to percentages, converting percentages to fractions or decimals in this chapter.

**Chapter 9 Rational Numbers**

Here, different types of rational numbers are discussed. It talks about positive and negative rational numbers, rational numbers on a number line, rational numbers in the standard form, comparison of rational numbers, rational numbers between two rational numbers and operations on rational numbers.

**Chapter 10 Practical Geometry**

In this chapter, we learn about the construction of a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line and the construction of different types of triangles.

**Chapter 11 Perimeter and Area**

Here, we learn about the concept of perimeter and how it is the distance around a closed figure while the area is the part of a plane or region occupied by the closed figure.

**Chapter 12 Algebraic Expressions**

The algebraic terms like coefficients, like and unlike terms, monomials, binomials, trinomials, polynomials, addition and subtraction of algebraic expressions, finding the values of an expression etc. are discussed here.

**Chapter 13 Exponents and Powers**

Some major topics that are covered in this chapter are exponents, multiplying powers with the same base, dividing powers with the same base, taking the power of a power, multiplying powers with the same exponents, dividing powers with the same exponents, the decimal number system and expressing large numbers in the standard form.

**Chapter 14 Symmetry**

This chapter is about symmetry. Symmetry means that one shape becomes exactly like another. Topics discussed in this chapter are line symmetry, lines of symmetry for regular polygons and rotational symmetry.

**Chapter 15 Visualising Solid Shapes**

As the name suggests, this chapter deals in solid shapes and sizes. Shapes including plane figures and solids, faces, edges, vertices, nets for building 3-D shapes, drawing solids on a flat surface, oblique sketches, isometric sketches etc. are discussed here.
