'Brand' at a very basic level means stamping a product with a particular name or sign. It is done so that it not similar to any other product in the market and can be differentiated.

The two reasons why building brands is central to advertising are

 It differentiates the product from the rest of the products in the market.

 It also helps to maintain brand loyalty.

Solution 3

Advertising affects the issues of equality in a democracy in the following manner:

  • It mostly focuses on the lives of the rich and famous and makes us forget about the issues of poverty, discrimination and dignity.
  • The cost of advertising is so high that only huge companies can afford to advertise their products, while the smaller companies are not able to do so. Hence, this creates a problem for smaller companies as their products are not bought. 
Solution 4

Create small groups and work on a brand name. Think of an advertisement related to the brand, something which connects with consumers. After all have come up with various thoughts, consolidate them and discuss those thoughts. (Note: This is a class activity.)
