Tendency of roots to grow downwards occurs as a result of geotropism. Shoots grow upwards because of phototropism. 

Auxins prevent premature fall of fruits and leaves. 

In a space station, there would be no gravity. Hence, the movement of roots towards gravity, i.e. geotropism, would get affected.
