By Pythagoras theorem,

AC² = BC² + AB² 

In ∆XYZ, XY² = YZ² + XZ², so, ∠Z = 90^o

∆ABC is a right-angled triangle with ∠C = 90^o.

By Pythagoras theorem,

AB² = BC² + AC² 25 − 9 = AC² AC = 4 cm
