The Olympic Games which are conducted every 4 years originated in ancient Greece. The original Olympic Games were held almost 2,750 years ago near Mount Olympus in the sacred city of Olympia. They formed a part of the festival celebrations. These games became a national festival and were held regularly with a four years interval. Unfortunately, they were discontinued when the Romans conquered Greece. However, they were later revived in 1896, and even today, the Olympic Games continue to be the most important sporting event in the world.
