Hi Srirama,

When all the planets formed, there was a large disc of gas and dust. This disc was rotating around the centre which now formed as Sun. Hence, all the planets revolve around Sun. Also these regions of dust and cloud accumulated by collecting gas from the neighbourhood making them spin around their own axes. This is why Earth and other planets rotate and revolve.

You can also refer to various internet sites that explain this phenomenon in detail. You can refer them for further assistance.
