ICSE Class 8 Answered
why cutting tools have sharp edges.

Expert Answer
Efficient cutting the material with cutting tool depends on the effort applied through the tool. When the edge is sharp the effort(force) is concentrated in narrow region and makes the cutting easy. If the edge is blunt, force distibuted over large area and cutting will be difficult. By physics, the pressure, which is force/area is more when the edge is sharp and makes it possible to cut easily
