Expert Answer
Paper is made from the bark of a tree. Cloth is also made from cotton fibre obtained from plants. The plant wood consists of cellulose strands or fibers. When we tear a piece of paper or tear a piece of cloth, it makes its characteristic tearing sound due to the breakage of chemical bonds between various particles or tissues present in it. The energy stored in these bonds is converted into heat and sound. Heat energy liberated is very much small but the sound produced is in the audible range of humans and thus we are able to hear it.
