The two major changes which occurred in agriculture were

1. The growing use of iron ploughshares because heavy, clayey soil could be turned over better, compared with wooden ploughshares, and more grain could be produced.

2. The transplanting of paddy because it meant that instead of scattering seed on the ground, from which plants would sprout, saplings were grown and then planted in the fields. This lead to increased production as more plants survived.
