The fall of the Mauryan Empire in the north allowed the blossoming of an independent and powerful kingdom in the south of the Indian peninsula. This kingdom was ruled by the Satavahanas or Andhras and its rule lasted for 450 years, from 3rd century BCE to 3rd century CE.
