Mahatma Gandhi was disappointed with the proposals of the Cripps Mission. He termed it as a ‘post-dated cheque’ instead of a tangible effort to meet Indian expectations. He stated that the proposals offered ‘too little too late’. He also voiced the view that from the nature of the proposals, it appeared that the British Government was not prepared to transfer effective power to the Indians anytime in the near future.
